Game Rules
Empires of Rome is meant to be won with planning, alliances and armies - not with extra accounts, scripts or someone else's wallet. These rules apply to everyone, with or without Patronage, and come on top of the Terms and Conditions. Helping someone else break them counts as breaking them.
1. Your account
- One account per player in each world. Several people in one household may each have an account, but every account is played by its own owner.
- The account belongs to whoever controls the e-mail address it was registered with, and that person answers for everything done with it.
- Do not give your password to another player in the same world, and do not play anyone else's account by logging in as them. To let someone look after your account, make them a sitter.
- To hand your account to someone who does not play in this world, change its e-mail address in your profile. Swapping accounts within the same world needs the team's approval first: both owners write to us from their registered e-mail addresses.
2. Sitters
- You can name up to two sitters to keep your account running while you are away. They log in with their own account through the sitter function.
- A sitter must play the account in its owner's interest - no emptying villages or sending troops to the sitter's own side.
- The owner is responsible for what the sitters do. We do not replace anything a sitter loses or gives away.
3. Fair play
- Play in a normal browser. Bots, macros, auto-clickers, scripts that send or build for you and modified game clients are not allowed. Only the game's own features may act for you. The computer-run rulers in the world belong to the game; no player may run bots of their own.
- If you find a bug, report it to us instead of using it. Using a bug for gain is punished even when it was found by accident.
- Do not use a second account, or a friend's account you control, to feed resources, troops or villages to your main account.
4. No real-money trading
Accounts, villages, troops, resources, gold and champion gear may not be bought or sold for real money or anything outside the game - not even given away as part of such a deal.
5. How we treat each other
Be fair in war and civil in words. These apply to player, village and alliance names, profiles and all messages and chat:
- no insults, harassment, hate speech or threats of real-life harm;
- no sexual or otherwise adult content - younger players are in the world too;
- no real-world politics in names and descriptions;
- no publishing someone's private messages without their consent;
- no pretending to be a member of the team;
- no advertising without our permission;
- public names and texts are in English, so everyone can read them.
Names and descriptions that break these rules may be changed without warning.
6. When rules are broken
- The team can warn, suspend or delete accounts. A punishment always outweighs what was gained by breaking the rules.
- Whatever is lost while an account is suspended - resources, troops, villages, Patronage time - is not replaced.
- Obvious extra accounts with small villages may be deleted without warning.
- To appeal, use the Support page in the game or write to [email protected]. Please do not argue a ban in the public chat. We only discuss an account with its owner.
7. Changes
We may change these rules when the game changes; changes are announced in the game news. If one rule turns out not to be valid, the others still apply.
